Malkha Zoo

We have recently visited the Tisch Family Zoological Gardens in Jerusalem - or as Israelis call it - The Malkha zoo. Our day at the zoo has been a wonderful one, and since that visit I keep recommending the zoo as the perfect place for a half a day out in Jerusalem for the entire faimly.

Our visit to the zoo was on a Saturday - meaning the zoo train was not working and we had to walk the entire route both ways. This actually turned out to be a plus, because this way we did not miss a thing and the kids got to enjoy all animals and all types of activity. However - if you're not the type to enkoy a nice walk, and two miles of walking is too much for you - plan your visit to any of the week days so that you can start by taking the zoo train up the hill, and walk the zoo path downhill from there.

So... what's there you ask? Well, The Malkha zoo has it all! From the smallest creatures to the biggest ones: you can enjoy watching a real ant farm in one of the booth exhibits, continue to a special Penguin playground, see the bears swin in their pool, and stop at the one of the biggest playgrounds in Jerusalem which is located at the Kids' section of the zoo.

My kids especially enjoyed the big african animals like Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras and Rhinos. Watching the big animals has been made eazy at the zoo since a special hanged boardwalk has been built over the animal's living areas. Watch the pictures and see for yourself:

Weather

During the past few years the zoo has evolved, and one of the most blessed parts of that change is that nearly all of the public territories are shaded by wonderful trees, so that visiting the zoo can be an alternative for a warm day.
